Meet Mike

Founder of maketime4wellness

has roots back to 2015 after I made the choice to shelve alcohol and find a different outlet for myself. At that time I was 260lbs, grossly out of shape, and not loving myself. It was clear that a change in a positive direction for my health was needed and luckily with the encouragement of others I stepped out of my comfort zone and showed up at a spinning class. From that day in November of 2015 my wellness journey took off. I was inspired by all the other individuals showing up for themselves, the competitive nature of the classes, and the community being built. Having been an athlete in my younger years it reignited the competitive drive, the desire to see others win, and my obsession to get better daily.

After that introduction to the spinning studio my habits changed. Instead of sleeping in or going to happy hour on the daily, I used fitness as a way to deal with the changes taking place in my life. Over time I slowly began to see results in my body, a better mental perspective, and became part of something bigger than myself, community. It became what I looked forward to everyday and what provided a huge amount of energy for my ability to perform at work, in relationships, and life. At this time in my life I was traveling incessantly for work and the bar scene was at the forefront so it was scary when these changes came about. I didn’t know what I was going to do because my habits were around working then hitting the hotel bar and rinse and repeat daily. So I began investigating where fitness studios were in relation to the hotels I stayed at and started staying at new spots if there were studios that were nearby. What i found is that the feeling of community is universal at all these different fitness studios. That people from all walks of life are actively showing up for themselves and seeking results whether they be physical, mental, social, or spiritual.

When these changes took hold this is when I began to feel the pull towards something bigger than myself and maketime4wellness arrived. I remember seeing a quote “if you don’t make time for wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for illness.” That really hit home especially during the pandemic and when it became abundantly clear that our own health is up to ourselves. No one can do a workout for you, no one can take care of your mind but you, no one can eat healthy for you except you. One’s own health is their responsibility and no one else’s. That may be controversial to some, but at the end of the day it is the reality we live in. We must take ownership for our own health and outcomes. We have the power to change at any moment and that is why I want to inspire others to take charge and begin making time 4 wellness.
